Memphis Pets Alive! (MPA!) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to saving shelter pets in Memphis, Tennessee.
Our mission is to promote and provide the resources, education and programs needed to save companion animals in local shelters (and help prevent shelter surrender).
We are implementing innovative & progressive ways to help shelter pets in the Memphis & Mid-South area after studying the best practices of other cities. We are currently focused on helping the healthy and treatable pets who are at risk in a shelter, by rescuing the pets who are at the greatest risk and helping owners with alternatives to shelter surrenders.

What’s this “Pets Alive!” thing about?!
“Pets Alive” groups are recognized within local communities, nationwide and around the world, as leaders in developing alliances to end the killing of adoptable animals and promoting the humane treatment of animals. We are not a local SPCA or shelter. Our mission is not to provide local animal control. We recognize the work that local shelters are already doing in this area (handling local animal control issues and returning lost and stray dogs to their owners). What we do is promote and provide the resources, education and programs needed to eliminate the killing of companion animals.
Note: Memphis Pets Alive! is not the city run facility, Memphis Animal Services.
